Surroundings of Pozzolengo
Desenzano del Garda is not only a tourist town, it is a real city alive and active in all seasons, preferred seating for winter weekends, the shopping promenade. The internal road that runs parallel to the promenade that starts from the sixteenth century Piazza Malvezzi, offers more than a kilometer of elegant windows that alternate at the tables of pubs, bars and clubs specialized in cocktails and snacks during the day and a little ‘live music after dinner. To see there are the Castle, the Cathedral, the Archeological Museum in the former Monastery of the Carmelites, the mosaics and the excavations of the Roman Villa.
Sirmione del Garda is built on a long narrow strip of land, which allows the tourist who stops in the beautiful gardens that line the road leading to the old village, the Castle and the Grotte di Catullo, to see the Veronese to the East Coast and the Bresciana Coast to the West. Right on the tip of the Sirmione peninsula, there are the ruins of a large villa, the “Catullo” caves that preserve ancient paintings of I and II century BC Tall, crenellated walls protect the Scaliger Castle and the medieval village.
Peschiera del Garda is one of the original towns of Lake Garda, is completely surrounded by canals and overlooks the lake at the point where the waters of Lake Garda emissary Mincio out. Walking in the village you can see the Venetian walls that now welcomes Betteloni square, the marina. On the square Ferdinando di Savoia, or piazza d’Armi is the Military Prison and the Parish Church of St. Martin (eighteenth century). Lovers of the beach located in Peschiera beautiful pebble beaches, sandy beaches and dedicated to the dogs, as the new Huckleberry Hound Beach.
Castellaro Lagusello rises on a hill, overlooking a small lake in the shape of heart. All around rise the hills of the morainic amphitheater of Garda, a few kilometers from the lake shore. Ancient castle, built on a natural hill north of the small lake, still remain the walls, four towers, some sections of the walkway and two rustic medieval houses.
Borghetto sul Mincio is an ancient village of mills in complete harmony with its river, tiny fraction of Valeggio. The great medieval fortifications give an original look at the landscape of Borghetto. Walking on the great Visconti Bridge you can admire the Mincio, which opens up and is channeled in ancient arms that convey the water to the large blades of the ancient mills, now converted into small local reception for tourists. Verona is one of the major art cities of Italy for its artistic and archaeological treasures. In ancient Verona it is sensitive the work of restoration of Can Grande della Scala: the strong visual impact given by the red color of the bricks of the beautiful Gothic buildings is tempered by wise use of the ancient Roman white marble; opera, this fruit of Scala political ideal return to the imperial splendor. Hence the new marble urbs, resplendent in white pavement of Piazza delle Erbe, the center of which stands the bright fountain of Madonna Verona, composed of parts from the ancient Roman baths. Verona has many Roman monuments. The most famous monument ever, become a symbol of the city itself, is the Arena, the third Roman amphitheater in Italy for size, but the best preserved, so much so that today it is used to host the famous Arena di Verona opera festival, as well as numerous concerts.
